PREFACE
“Born in Paris in 1989 to a father of Romanian origin and a mother born on the border between Algeria and Morocco, David Benedek grew up in the world of perfumery. His grandparents, exiles from Transylvania, were among the first people allowed to distribute big names of perfumes such as Worth or Christian Dior in the 1950s in Paris. They then specialized in the sale of perfumes and luxury products to foreign customers visiting the capital and opened their first shop in the 1960s at the corner of Rue Royale and Rue Saint-Honoré. From father to son, the family expertise around perfumes develops over the years. David studied economics and then went to live in Beijing and New York in 2010 for his studies. Upon his return, he joined the French Institute of Fashion in 2012 where he specialized in the world of perfume and cosmetics. For more than a year, he learned to recognize the main raw materials, olfactory families and their facets before perfecting himself in learning the steps necessary to create fragrances. Feel, discover, recognize, he becomes familiar with the subtleties of this universe with Givaudan's teams. A passion that is gradually turning into a need: that of making it its profession. He then decided to continue this learning alongside the Fifth Sense Institute, which helped him shape his olfactory universe, the cornerstone of the BDK Parfums perfume house.” - BDK Parfums
